trek great wall

Stretching 6000km in a dotted line across China, the Great Wall was begun in the 5th Century BC. As it snakes across the mountains it conjures up a sense of history which is difficult to grasp until you have had the opportunity to experience it.

Our trek is very varied, as we pass through woodland and terraced farmland, and follow the contours of the beautiful hills and mountains in remote areas north of Beijing. We follow old sections of the Great Wall, as well as restored sections with smooth flagstones and lots of steps!

This challenge is physically demanding and offers fabulous scenery and a fascinating insight into a rich culture and history.

great wall trekking

This innovative itinerary takes in a remote section of the Great Wall outside Beijing in Hebei Province. Hosted by local families, we camp in comfort in exclusive locations and explore the Great Wall over seven days, trekking between villages. The scenery is vast and diverse as we trek our way through tall swaying corn cropped field to distant green river valleys with one of the great wonders of the world as our backdrop. Host families provide us with true rural hospitality in the 'real China' and allow us rare interaction, including visits to family homes. In Beijing we visit the capital’s major historic sites such as the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square and the lakeside Summer Palace. We also indulge in the culunary delight that Chinese cuisine is so famous for. The Beijing food experiences will no doubt compete with the trek itself as one of the highlights of this entirely unique adventure.

simatai to jinshanling

No trip to China would be complete without a visit to the Great Wall. Over 7,000 kilometers long, or over 4,000 miles, the wall was built over hundreds of years by different dynasties to defend China from outsiders. As a means of protection, its track record was mixed. As a way to draw tourists centuries later, it is a smashing success.

simatai to jinshanling

jinshanling simatai

Some say that the hike between Jinshanling and Simatai gives you a truly "authentic" wall experience. My view is that any experience with the Wall is authentic, but if you're looking for breathtaking views in relative isolation, combined with some exercise, then this trek is definitely for you.

mutianyu great wall

The Mutianyu Great Wall winds 22 km through lofty mountains and high ridges, many sections of which were made of granite. The unique structure makes the wall almost indestructible. It measures 7 to 8 meters high and 4 to 5 meters wide. Both of the wall's inner and outer sides have parapets to defend against enemies coming from the two sides. Some parapets are saw, tooth shaped instead of the regular rectangular form. Below the parapets, there are square embrasures, the top of which are designed in an arc structure, different from the traditional round embrasures. Both the inner and outer parapets of the Mutianyu Great Wall are crenellated with merlons, a feature quite rare among sections of the Great Wall.

jinshanling

The Jinshanling Great Wall is located about 140 kilometers (87 miles) northeast of Beijing city, China. It is the best preserved part of the Great Wall in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) with many original features. Jinshanling connects to the Simatai section of the wall in the east and Gubeikou section in the west.
Dating back to the North Qi Dynasty (550-577), the wall, fortresses and passes were constructed in this area. You still can find the ruins of the wall in this period, mainly made of rammed earth. When the Ming Dynasty was established in 1368, General Xu Da was dispatched to rebuilt the wall between the Shanhaiguan Pass in the east and Juyongguan Pass in the west. Again in 1567, General Tan Lun and Qi Jiguang were appointed to guard the northern frontier of the capital in this area. Qi Jiguang spent 16 years to repair and reconstructed the wall of a total length of more than 1200 km in the northern frontier. The Jinshanling section is the best place we still can see the magnificent architectures of the Ming Dynasty. In terms of construction it is in no way inferior to the wall at Badaling.

jinshanling

mutianyu

The Mutianyu Great Wall,79 km northeast of Beijing, enjoys a long history and is part of the glorious culture of China. It connects Juyongguan Pass in the west and Gubeikou Great Wall in the east. The wall was first built in Northern Qi Dynasty (550-557). In the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), under the supervision of General Xu Da, construction of the presently seen Mutianyu Great Wall began on the foundation of the wall of Northern Qi and the Mutianyu Pass was erected in 1404. It served as the northern protective screen, protecting the capital and imperial tombs for generations.

mutianyu

simatai

The Simatai Great Wall is situated at Gubeikou Town, Miyun County, 120 km (75 mi) northeast of Beijing. It stretches 5.4 km from Wangjinglou (Tower for Viewing the Capital) in the east and connects Jinshanling Great Wall in the west. Originally built in the North Qi Dynasty (550-577), it was reconstructed by General Qi Jiguang in the reign of Emperor Wanli from the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). It consists of 35 watch towers and still retains the original architecture feature of the Ming Dynasty. This section was restored again by Chinese government in 1987 and opened to the public in 1990. Simatai Great Wall was listed as World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1987....

Great
Wall at Mutianyu
used to
serve as the the northern barrier defending the capital and imperial
tombs. This section is surrounded by woolland and streams. It is less
crowded than Badaling section and busy than Simatai and Jinshanling.
It’s easy to access by 45 miles away from Beijing. The trip will finish

16 densely placed towers with a total length of 2.5 km.

Itinerary
Pick you up at your hotel in Beijing at 8 am and drive to Mutianyu (1.5 hrs). You will start the hiking around 9:30 am, and it will take about 3.5 hours up and down the same way. On the way back into Beijing we drive by the Olympic venues and you stop to take photos.
Mutianyu offers a wonderfully satisfying experience of the Wall. It has superb scenery, dense vegetation and many fine watch-towers in an excellent restored sectin which is about six metres broad. The brickwork is elaborate, with crenellations on both sides and finely curved eaves on some watch-tower roofs. There are decorative gables with animal statues, and tablets bearing calligraphy above some entrances.
There are 22 towers on the wall, and you will start from Tower 8 and finish at Tower 22. The western section is more steep and straight upward, so please take a breath when doing the hiking.
Cable car, chairlift and toboggan (slideway) are optionals when you come down the wall.
When you finish the hiking at about 1 pm, your guide can organize a lunch in a local restaurant. You will be transferred back to hotel after lunch.

great wall china tour

There is an
old Chinese saying that goes “A man who can not reach the Great Wall is
not a true man!” The marvelous defense project in ancient China extends
over 5000 kilometers form the Shanhaiguan Pass on the eastern coast to
the Jiayuguan Pass in the Gobi Desert in the west. Qin Shi Huang, the
First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty who unified the country in 221 BC, gave
orders to link up all the separated walls built by the ducal states
before. The wall originally functioned as the barrier preventing from
attacking by nomadic tribes in north China, and it worked very well in a
long time. However the Mongols broke it down in 1271 and formed the
Yuan Dynasty in 1279. The following dynasties, the Ming and Qing, made
Beijing the centre of culture, economy and politics in China for more
than 600 years.

This trip is designed for those
who are fit, energetic and enjoy trekking. We travel through the lush
mountainous areas northeast and east of Beijing. A fascinating journey
on the backroads allows you to observe closely the everyday life of
villagers and offers perfect opportunities to interact with the locals.
We will also visit the Forbidden City and Tian’anmen Square. A highlight
of this tour is hiking in remote areas, away from the crowded tourist

spots.

Tekken 6 Story

Shrouded in mystery, the King of Iron Fist Tournament 5 came to an end with the defeat of Jinpachi Mishima at the hands of Jin Kazama.

Jin took control of the Mishima Zaibatsu and began using the special Tekken Force unit to carry out covert disinformation and paramilitary operations. As a result of its efforts, the general public became paranoid and minor incidents around the globe soon evolved into major conflicts. Governments around the world grew increasingly impotent as chaos spread. At the peak of the carnage and confusion, the Mishima Zaibatsu arose from the darkness, flexing the full potential of its military might and declaring its dominion over all governmental rule.

The Mishima Zaibatsu took control of the world with overwhelming force. In response, G Corporation materialized in opposition to the Zaibatsu, setting-out to subdue the Mishima forces globally. Hailed as civilization’s savior, The G Corporation offered a generous bounty to anyone who captures Mishima Zaibatsu's leader, Jin Kazama. In an effort to lead the next steps in the deadly dance between organizations, The Mishima Zaibatsu set the stage for battle with its announcement of The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.

Some seek fame. Some seek the bounty on Jin's head. Some seek solely to banish their own inner demons. Each fighter has a unique agenda. Welcome to The King of Iron Fist Tournament 6.
